THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
I am glad to see that The Lantern has reopened with a new menu and new decor. It is great to see the Restaurant open again. Well worth a visit.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
I, and probably others, assumed they were open as they are one of the restaurants that have kindly donated a prize of a meal for the Christmas game competition!

Other restaurants are available. The poster makes no intentional preferential indication of any and is, as already stated elsewhere, grateful to all those who have kindly donated prizes.

The Fortune Cookie and The King And Thai prizes will be available in A Taste Of India Asia House as they are all moving into one restaurant.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
We went to the Lantern on Thursday. I like the new menu, decor and furnishings. Debbie and Mahmoud (waiter) looked after us very well and the new menu is more extensive than before. The food was delicious - well done Nasser and his chefs). Thoroughly recommend the Restaurant. I hope that it will remain open during these difficult times.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
So what is the menu? The name suggests to me that it will be very anglicised or maybe international, but not very Egyptian.
Maybe somebody could scan or photograph the menu and post it online?
O.K., I found it at http://www.thelanternluxor.com/.
Prices seem slightly high (but I'm comparing with WB and UK prices), but the wine at LE85 per bottle is on a par with the WB and with Hurghada.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
The site was last updated 28th September 2012 so I doubt they have their new menu on there.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
The Lantern is a fully licensed tourist restaurant so you cannot compare it with the unlicensed places on the WB can you if they are charging the same then its those places that have high prices.

Re: THE LANTERN RESTAURANT
Get a grip everybody, I appreciate the fact you all think the sun shines out of the cracks in Luxor, like I have said before, Luxor has the 2 temples, the avenue of sphinx, and a few other items.
The West Bank has, VOK VOQ, Hatchepsutes, Tombs of the Nobles, Rammuseum, Habu Temple, Collossi of Menmon, Workers Village so surely has to be the true pharonic side,
Luxor has Sh---y Streets, confined places, broken pavements, terrible traffic problems, noise, empty 5* Hotels etc etc.
We have some great eating places too, that will compete with any Luxor Restaurant, its just we do not like advertising them because we feel they should be kept precious to those of us that use them....
