Mona has moved

Post by hatusu »

Those of you who use Mona and Monamed's supermarket near Nubi Stables might not know that she has moved into the main street
now. The old store is still open but only the new store is selling the cheeses. Walking up from the Nile her shop is on the LH side in the main group of shops (approx 6 up from the fruit and veg shop). Its called Sudane Market.

I love that Name. Mona..
In Wales, it is derived from the Holy Isle (Ynys Mon - Anglesey ) and means Holy Lady.
Other descriptions of the name below..

Arabic Variant transcription of Muna (مُنى) - Wishes Muna, Mouna Female
Gaelic/Irish Anglicized form of Muadhnait - Noble One Monah, Monna, Monya Female
Greek Monos (μονος) - Solitary, One Female
Ancient Italian Contraction of the title Madonna - My lady Female
Miwok Gathered of the seed of a jimson weed. - Male and Female
Nepalese - Bud Muna Female
Old English - Moon Female
Persian - an adjective for the God,moona derives from Mana, means who lasts forevere Female
Scottish - Female form of Tormod, derived from Norman Northman, Viking Female
Sanskrit - Alone,unique Female
Teutonic - Loner Female

Not sure I have ever known of the association with a purveyor of Cheese in an Egyptian West bank town though.. :tk

Not off-topic - the word Mona was in the title!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Yes, I got that, Stan. Well Mr Clever Trousers, segue, twist, call it what you will, it went at a right-angle; apart from the linking word, they had nothing in common, is what I meant! :)
