Fortune Cookie

Post by Quinonostante »

Called into The Fortune Cookie yesterday evening and was pleasantly surprised! (El Medina St)

Attractive building with an equally attractive menu!

Chicken sizzler in black bean sauce was my choice and it was really authentic. :)

Other dishes chosen were: spicy beef, chilli beef and some egg fried rice.

Chips were 'real' potato!!

Worth a visit! Hoping to get his liquor licence over the next couple of weeks too!

I'm glad it's taken off to such a good start. Let's hope it continues to do so.

Thoroughly loved the place

Post by Jetsetters »

Called here during my recent holiday. Was made to feel very welcome by the staff.
Loved the decor and thought it was very tasteful and not tacky like some chinese establishments.
Started with some wonderful hot and spicy soup with the obligarory prawn crackers and couldnt resist some Prawn toast. The soup was absolutely wonderful and fresh and had a nice little kick to it. The toppings on the prawn toast was lovely and thick and so full of flavour and the crackers fresh and crunchy.
This was quickly followed by a duck dish and a Thai green curry which was equally tasty and freshly done.
Loved the fact that they had draft beer in a pint glass and the fact that we were the only diners there, made the service intimate and attentive, but not over bearing.
The menu is comprehensive and provides a fine cross section of chinese food
Would highly recommend the Fortune Cookie to any visitors that enjoy freshly cooked, fine chinese food in beautiful surroundings. Would love to have gone back a few times but there was so many places to try.

But if only they did sweet and sour pork, or pork in black bean sauce, like the Korean restaurant did!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

p.s.
I will be introducing a new full Thai tasting menu in January prior to the new restaurant openning and look forward to your feedback, more details later.

Will be very interested to try that. I love the Thai at the Steigenberger, but haven't found any others, so somewhere new (and hopefully cheaper) will be great. Good luck! Where will it be?

Just been to Fortune Cookie with 4 of my good friends for a girls night out.
This was my fourth or fith visit, and again I am most impressed!
Like I said 5 of us ladies went and each of us chose a main dish and side dish each, with a few extras, and just had a banquet laid all down the middle of the table
What a feast, all very authentic, very good sized portions, nicely presented, and every plate was licked clean (not literally!)
We even had dessert on top! My knickerbocker glory favorite was out of stock, but they ran around and still dished up a surprise Glory !for me! and came out with a bowl of cherry sauce to drizzle all over it!
Wonderful food, lovely staff, good friends, great evening, finished off with a drink at the Regal before being collected by the menfolk and rolled home to sleep it off!
Keep it up!
I will be back!
