Went there for a meal with 5 friends 2 years ago. (All ex-pats living in Egypt) Dean was so rude and abrasive we all swore we would never go back there. Still haven't been!

Agree with you, Kevin. I had the misfortune to meet Dean once and he publicly humilated me over a complete misunderstanding. One of the only people in life I've taken an instant and total dislike to...
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

Kevin, who amongst those that live in Luxor cannot say that despite loving the place, we have days when it gets too much and we get a little irascible?

It is a pity that you have been put off Dean's as, in my humble opinion, the food is consistently the best in Luxor.

There's a difference between irascible and downright rude. I'm not going to talk for Kevin, but in my experience, Dean was definitely the latter.

No matter how good his food, I certainly won't be going to his restaurant.

Quite agree with Contessa, his food is excellent but his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. I will never go there again.

Shame about the negative comments about Dean himself, I don't find him to be the way described, maybe it's a case of personality clashes I don't know. The main thing is you should be able to enjoy a meal at his place without having a negative effect from his presence.

Dean's is one of my two favourite restaurants in Luxor - the other being JJs - and I've never found him to be unpleasant or irascible. He does have a wicked sense of humour which might put some people off I guess. But, above all it is the food that is the important thing and I've never had a bad meal there.
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

I have eaten at Dean's a few times, his food is lovely and can say I have never found him rude.
