Deans Bistro

Post by sue » Tue May 13, 2008 6:26 pm

I tried this new place as last time I visited Luxor I really enjoyed going to Queens and this time Dean had moved to new premises. I had a really enjoyablel meal there. A variable choice of food and they even bring the board in for you to look at so you don't have to keep popping outside to see the specials. It also has a pleasant atmosphere in clean surroundings with good music.
Vegetables were all fresh and Pastry wonderful, filled with fillet steak and mushrooms, yummy. I would seriously reccommend a visit here.

I hear the food is good sue, and the place is very clean, people will keep going back to good food and service, I wish him well :) But its a shame he has to slate the other restaurants off when he has no need to do so.

You are right K. Dean is a bit 'in your face' with how good a chef he is, and putting down other restaurants. His food is very good and we went there 3 times during last months visit.

Try his green thai curried chicken with rice and stir fried veg.....excellent, and only LE43 (if I remember correctly)

I only met him once and thought he was an arrogant git, came into another resturnat where I was eating and started counting his takings and boast about his profit etc. I was shocked as he covered the table with 100LE notes, who did he think he was. put me off eating at his place
Jane Akshar - mad about egyptology -sane otherwise ....... I think

Sorry to hear these comments, I can only speak as I find but he has never slagged off anyone in my presence or even commented on any other restaurant. For me the place and food was the most important thing along with the company I was keeping.

I can imagine he's the kind of person many don't like but I don't have anything bad to say about him.

I would like to try Grandad, but I'm Blacklisted and Ive never been near the place, must have something to do with Luxor4u.

I don't dislike anyone, just cant see the point of slating other businesses off for no reason.

Dean has a rather abrupt and abrasive manner sometimes, but I dont think anyone could deny his food is 100 % 1st class. In fact he sacked his chef a few weeks ago for not meeting his high standards.

Due to not having airline meals this time we decided to go into Deans before getting the flight home. I was not disappointed, Everything was as fresh as before and the pie had just come out of the oven, this time cooked by the young Egyptian that Dean has been teaching. Top Marks. I felt extremely full and couldn't quite finish it all, Good job Stan has an even healthier appetite than me and manages to make sure there is no waste.

I was very pleased that Dean's place is still going strong.
I enjoyed a nice grilled fish, mixed veg and mash in there.
It has a very friendly atmosphere and good choice of music. Dean was very pleasant and even played music on request, so a very mellow moment was filled with the sounds of Joni Mitchell.

Totally agree with Sue on this one. My Thai curry was excellent, the music great, and we stayed listening to Joni Mitchell long after we finished eating. A place definitely to be recommended - reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. And unlike many places, the kitchen is in full view, so you can see your food cooking.

He is regularly slagged off by other restaurateurs, so his responses could be said to be quite natural!
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!
Stan

Went there in march twice , and enjoyed it very much :)
Dean makes you feel very welcome and takes the time to get to know you.
Have a go you might enjoy it :)
