It's widely available here Doc, used a lot in Turkish cooking. Speak to Carrie - she may be visiting me in April and I'm sure she'd bring you some back with her. :wi

It's often used in Jordan too. I love it and can by it down here.

Try asking for this: سماق . Sorry it's so small; it's the biggest font available.

Good luck. Please let me know where you find some. If you don't I'll bring some extra next visit along with mine.

Dr, I was speaking to my husband earlier, and he said from my description, 'tawarble should be right, and that while the family doesn't use it so he doesn't know an exact shop, he said it's surely available in any spice shop on EB.

Egyptian souk, about 50 yards in on the right hand side, not the first spice shop you come to but the second heading from Jussef Hassen Street.

So went to the first spice-man as the 2nd was closed.
It's known as Sumac but the guy ripped me off big time, so next time I'll try the 2nd shop. Thanks for your advice..
