Post by Who2 »

When I was traipsing around the desert a few years back with Clementine playing solar powered 'toones and reading at nightime with solar powered lamps one book was The Pharaoh's Feast by Oswald Rivera. Anyhow Terfeziaceae ? Desert Truffles 'Food of the Gods

So, Having forgotten all about them until looking for a recipe just now, Has anyone ever seen a shop where they sell them even better what are they called in phonetics. 'terfas ? I used to traipse twixt beech birch and oak trees in a forest I lived in once, never bloody found one..
Ps: by shop, I mean in Luxor not some flash EC1 deli...

I'm not a ''terfa entrepreneur' but I did enjoy your links as they took me to some other interesting places. Thanks.

They grow wild in the Mersa Matrouh area and the Bedouin hunt for them and collect them to sell to Arabs and foreigners. There have been attempts at cultivating them on farms but they have failed.
