Flour

Post by Mad Dilys »

When I first came to Luxor it was necessary to find someone with a sack of wholemeal flour and put it through several sievings to remove both the bran and the weevils. :)

Then we were able to get small quantities of plain white flour - Al Hamdulillah, but it is a bit strong for some baking.

Yesterday in 40 Market I saw some packs of a more refined flour, does this mean that we are about to have a range of flours Inshallah?

I bought the bread flour (labelled fine flour) but with a picture of different sorts of bread on the packaging & it made the most superb foccacia so I guess (hope) the other flour they also had is more of a general baking flour. I used it for scones & they rose & turned out well so will try it for cake next.
