Egyptair cancelling flights

Post by crewmeal »

In response to Heathrow's request to cut back on flights, Egyptair have done just that. Yesterday's 778 was cancelled, and the evening flight has also been affected. I'm booked to fly out next month, I hope I won't be affected as there aren't many options to get to Luxor on the day. Looks like it's going to be pot luck if you travel anywhere these days.

Although that was last week's news, they did the same yesterday.

It’s not a requirement for entering Egypt. In fact there are no compulsorily required vaccinations for Egypt.

I’ve just arrived in Luxor and left Heathrow 1 hour 30m late. I was seated right down the back with families and screaming kids. Checkin at Heathrow was quick using A22-25 checkin. Security was also quick though I was subjected to the full body scan.

Arrival at Cairo was chaotic as usual because only 2 banks open for the visa label and changing money. 23LE to the pound. Then the chase through domestic immigration and find gate G27 which is the other end of the airport. The Luxor flight was delayed an hour to allow hordes of Spanish to join. Lastly it took 30 minutes to get my bags and out of the airport.

It's good to hear that your luggage was not lost as there are still so many tweets appearing about lost luggage

When transferring at Cairo I always show my baggage tag to the agent to make sure it’s on the flight. Also the AirTag is very limited in use. As we were taxiing out to the runway it showed my luggage next to the terminal. Works well in the bedroom though!!
