UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
Yet again the travel industry will be hit hard by this stupid announcement stating no vaccination passports will be issued. Instead a visit to your GP to state that you've had the vaccination.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/55970801
The interesting point is will countries accept a letter from your GP which 'proves' you've had a vaccination? I think not. Think of all the traps you could fall into by scammers with a template charginhg you a fortune.
British Airways have started a trial to prove you've had the vaccination, how many airlines will follow suit?

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
All Zahawi has said is that the government “has no plans” to introduce vaccine passports. That seems eminently sensible to me....given the absence of any indication of whether they would be required, and if they were, what information they’d be required to contain.
Far too early to chase that particular hare.
In the highly unlikely event that they became mandatory for travel, the government can always reconsider the matter.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
They our Gov, bleat on about how good their vaccination rollout is continuing.
So WHY don't they insist on every traveller entering the UK must have a vaccine, upon arrival.
1. It would boost their success rate numbers, it's cheap and a fairly simple operation.
2. As they are not insisting on isolation, it might that's might, just help the fight against covid.
3. Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives, all a bit wishy washy imho...

1. You can’t go around injecting stuff into unwillingly visitors. Sounds a bit like what the Chinese are doing to the Uyghurs

2. For someone coming for, say, a few days or couple of weeks, it would have no impact on the virus situation in U.K. The vaccine takes some time to be effective and even then may not inhibit transmission.
3.insisting on a pre- arrival PCR test and quarantine should be enough...if only they policed the quarantine a bit more effectively.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
With the idea of double testing arrivals, I think the government is on the right track at last.
Of course it will murder the tourism industry so long as it lasts. It will simply make it too expensive for most families to go abroad.
Personally, I’ll be returning to Egypt when travelling is permitted....hopefully May. And I’ll be there for several months so, hopefully, this testing malarkey will be history by the time I return to UK.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
Hardly. Many people travel around the world for reasons other than tourism.
The devastation this particular virus has caused to lives, and the economy, in the UK (and elsewhere) is the result of too many people not adhering to the basic methods of preventing a virus spreading, and the government’s incompetence in using its powers to ensure the public comply.
Insofar as they’ve acted, it’s been “too little, too late “

If we'd locked down 12 months ago like New Zealand did we might be in a better position now, but as I see it this uselss govt will muddle dither away as it has done. £10k for quarantine abuse? You get less for murder.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
Yep.
Homo Sapiens has been around for a couple of million years. In that time ,our superb brain has enabled us to populate the planet and, in effect, command all other life forms.
Unfortunately, the “ stupid” gene seems to have persisted in our species and, either by an inability to cope with pandemics, or an enhanced ability to construct and use weapons of mass extinction, it’s unlikely, in my opinion, that we will survive another couple of million years.
The dinosaurs, with their pea-sized brains, did so much better....over 200 million years.

Addendum: Just received a call from the surgery asking me attend a pop-up clinic
there for a vaccination in 1 hour. Well you never know perhaps some people listen to me...
Ps: Mind you, that's highly unlikely.....

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
What they don’t do is associate the word with “panic”.
They have decided- as rational human beings - that, given a certain level of vaccination, the virus is something we’ll just have to live with. Assuming we don’t wish to spend the remainder of our lives in splendid isolation.
The government has come to similar conclusions.
The only question is whether the government’s assessment of the risk, versus economic damage, matches that of the prospective holidaymaker.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
Well if you think we will have beaten Covid 19 within 4 months good luck.
Sure we will have to live with it as we did the rest having annual inoculations.
But guaranteed those holiday makers will have hell of a time getting their deposits back!
They should really consider Margate or Mevagissey even Midsomer Norton, the death rate there will
probably be lower than Marbella.imho...

Good luck then. We will not be getting Astra-Zeneca...too old.

Re: UK govt won't issue vaccination passports
You may well yet get the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine as the WHO have endorsed it for all age groups, worldwide. France, and a few other countries may well have to re-think their plans on this.

it is what you do with what happens to you.
