Easyjet no longer flying to Hurghada?

Post by newcastle » Wed Jun 27, 2018 9:29 am

Here's a weird one!

It seems Easyjet are no longer flying to Egypt.

I flew to London a few weeks ago on Easyjet but it looks as if I'll have to find an alternative way back.....probably Pegasus via Istanbul.

Easyjet have confirmed to me that they are no longer flying to Egypt from UK but the lady I spoke to was unable to give me any explanation.

Could it be a seasonal stop that's likely to start up again in the autumn? Just a thought.

Well they've never done so in the past, and I'm pretty sure they had a full year scheduled service when I looked a few weeks ago. Moreover the flights were full. I could have booked a return flight, but chose not to , being uncertain how long I'd need in London.

Summer is high season (oddly enough).

It came as such a surprise that my initial suspicion was that I was having some kind of brain fart and making a mistake with my keyboard.

It seems to be a trend with Easyjet. They suck you in on a particular route and then, even though it seems to the passengers to be a popular route, they pull the service. I've noticed similar issues with Moroccan destinations.

The Easyjet website now confirms there are no flights between 25th July and 8th Sept.

Must be a very recent adjustment as I now find there are 3 flights only between now and 25th July....if I can stomach the £333 plus extras on 30th June or £444 plus extras in July.

That's one way.

Even more puzzling is that whilst you cannot fly from Gatwick to Hurghada on 4th July, you can fly from Hurghada to Gatwick on that day. Presumably the outgoing plane arrives from somewhere else.

It's at times like this that I miss Stan's comprehensive knowledge of airline activities

Thomas Cook still fly from the regions but you've guessed it the prices are horrendous for the summer peroid. I did a dummy booking from Birmingham on a Wednesday and it came out at £771.98. Thats with seat reservation and baggage both ways, no food.

You might as well grit your teeth and book Egyptair. (Unless you want to go to Cyprus and we all know about that!)

A one way flight on 2nd July is better at £253.99.

Do you mean Stan? I'm wondering if you meant Russel as he had a wealth of knowledge when it came to all things air travel related. Please excuse me if I'm wrong.

Hepzibah/Keefy.......quite right. Another brain fart!

I blame the heat......and boredom-induced memory loss.

Time I got back to waiving palms and cool sea breezes.

I remember a wasted journey to Margate years ago.

I think it was shut.

Tenby, in the land of sheep-shaggers, sounds more exciting

Flights are still showing on the Easyjet system, albeit at ridiculous prices.

It must have been some glitch on their system when I was looking a few days ago....and they verbally confirmed no flights until Sept.

Now the site is showing the usual Wed/ Sat flights all year....albeit, as you say, at ridiculous prices during school hols.
