When was the last time you travelled to Luxor? Prices have been rising steadily, but as with most airlines, the later you leave it, the more expensive the flight becomes. Found one flight, not direct , but with one stop, each way, travelling 5th February for two weeks for £453.

I usually book my flights roughly six months in advance, then it’s around £390, direct both ways. With two pieces of luggage included, and food and drink on the airline, I am happy with that.

The only other option is to fly via Hurghada and take the Gobus to Luxor. However, flights for that won’t be that much cheaper, due to the fact that again you need to book early to get cheaper prices.

It could be higher middle of February, due to half term in schools. Always more expensive during holiday times.

Travelling to UK in February, 4 hour flight, 52 Euro's one way and 85 Euro's the other 137 Euro's return each. Flight back in March. Great living where 5 budget airlines compete for passengers.

I know what you are saying Hepzi, but reading between the lines I am stating that while there are no companies battling for customers flight prices will stay high. EgyptAir must be having a field day, and recent news will put tourists off again. The average tourist does not realise the size of Egypt, and especially the Sinai Area, and its the old saying Tar with the same brush. If something happened on th border, at this time it would still resonate being through out the Country. Shame but that's the way it goes. I have the news on at the moment and the death toll in the Sinai has risen to over 220.

I had side tracked Hepzi to get over the cost to tourism by not having budget airlines. It clearly will not matter anyway to many English, after seeing the Sky News last night (9pm) it showed just how many warring factions and religious sects are battling it out for supremacy, they mention 8 and added others are growing on a daily basis, and the Country has no answer. It showed a map showing that the ISIS fighters that are getting squeezed out of IRAN and SYRIA have traveled into the Sinai region, it was not know just how many but it was thought by Middle East analysts Egypt is on the list to be their new home. That is why I put in another post about the Security forces wiping them out before they get a strangle hold. The Egyptian army although full of conscripts needs to act fast, mind you I remember how effective the Republican Guard was a few years ago. (Dare I say as good as a chocolate fireguard) I did see they had been BOMBING SUSPECTED AREAS though in the Sinai, whatever that meant, I think most people will see the misguided use of the words.

We've just booked a 14 night trip for later this year but very miffed at not being able to get flights to Luxor except from Heathrow.

So, we're biting the bullet and having a split week at the Red Sea in Hurghada on All Inclusive and on the 3rd day will transfer to Luxor by coach in order to take a 7nt Nile cruise. Then we go back to Hurghada for the remainder of our stay and our flight back to Manchester.

Thomas Cook flights Manchester to Hurghada with 1 suitcase between us is just under £716.00

Oh, I wish I was back in Cyprus when we could do 2 short hops into Cairo and onwards to Luxor :(
