First Hand Experience Needed to Recommend Riding Stables

Post by Winged Isis »

Has anyone used one or more of the stables in Luxor for horse riding? I really want first-hand experience please, not hearsay thanks, unless it's from experienced riders.

If you have used, them stating your personal level of riding ability would help too.

We have clients coming over who are interested. We have not used any stables in Luxor ourselves, or had previous clients who've made such a request, so would value genuine and comprehensive answers as we usually only recommend places we have ourselves experienced.

1). What was the state of the horses, tack and stables?

2). Are hard-hats provided?

3). What was WH&S like? (Don't laugh).

4). How competent, experienced, helpful and pleasant were the staff, especially those escorting the riders, and how did they treat the horses? Can you recommend one in particular?

5). Do they have a good variety of horses to accommodate riders of varying ability and confidence?

6). Where do the rides go to and for how long?

7). What prices are charged? Do you have to have a particular currency other than LE?

Their name and clear directions to find them are essential please.
Any other useful information would be a bonus.

@ Dusak: With your close connection to ACE, could you kindly ask their opinions please.

Stables near me, I have to walk past the stables everyday and the horses seem fit and healthy, well fed and a selection. Riders use hard hats. I don't know if you are aware WI but quite a lot of Europeans own horses here and most stable their horses with Nobi.
I haven't been riding for some time so don't know the prices but if you go to one of the tour company's they usually have a price for an hours riding and I'm sure you could negotiate a lower price with the owner himself.
The stables are the Pharonic Stables and walking up from the ferry along the main road you will see a sign that points you in the right direction. Or ask for the Cleopatra Hotel the stables are just before you get there. Very near Attar's the bakers.
The staff that accompany the riders have been doing so for a number of years and the destination of the ride depends on time booked on the horse. Last time I went it was for 3 hours which for me was far too long but my friends both experienced riders enjoyed it whilst I plodded along at my own pace they went into the desert and had a gallop.
Hope that has been a little helpful.

I knew the names of both those mentioned above, but nothing about them, so have learnt a lot so far. Many thanks! :wi

Still interested in anyone else's comments.

PS: hatusu, did you know your worthy establishment is mentioned in my recently purchased copy of the latest Lonely Planet Egypt, and gets a very favourable write-up? :a41:

Over the years my daughters and grandchildren have used Nobi Stables numerous times. The horses are all Arabian and well looked after. You can have a donkey or camel if you want.
Prices are reasonable and you can have one or two hours. escorts are are very competent. They use several routwes depending on the length of the ride.
Hard hats are provided and tack is well turned out.
First timers are assigned docile animals and my grandchildren had no problems at all first time out.
