These were a requirement when I extended a year ago. I will probably be extending next week so will find out what is now requested. But I will go armed with as many documents and copies as possible to try to cover all options.
You could try rolling up one trouser leg and giving the clerk a "funny handshake".

Every little helps ;)

It didn't work for me. I had to pay for my visa.

The best laid schemes o' mice an' men

For promised joy.

Armed with all my paperwork, photographs, etc., I visited the passport office this morning.

The man at counter #8 (today) took a quick look and said, yes, he would issue an extension until 25 March. The hotel had produced very good, typed paperwork, but got the dates wrong by a month. So I'll have to go back another day. I need until 23 April. Maybe I should learn to read a bit more Arabic?

C'est la vie!

What a kerfuffle!

No genuine tourist in Hurghada bothers with a visa extension if they're over 60. In fact, you have to give a plausible reason at the visa office (beyond just staying over 30 days) or they just tell you not to worry, and that it's not necessary.

Oh ..the joys of living in Luxor

So I returned this morning with everything that I needed.

Completed application form
passport
one photograph
photocopies of main passport page and entry visa page
receipt from the hotel for 6 months
paper from hotel detailing exact dates of my stay, with the official hotel (in duplicate)
copy of hotel's certificate that it is registered for taxation (i.e. licensed)

Everything was accepted, and I paid my 555 EGP + 15 EGP at the cash desk.

"come back at 2pm"

So I returned at 2pm and there was nobody waiting. Not a good sign.

The fax machine was broken so they could not get the approval fax from Cairo.

"Come back tomorrow at 1pm." The man seemed genuinely apologetic.

And he will phone me first to avoid a wasted journey.

I was not the worst off: someone on his list had come from Aswan for a visa extension.

Only in Egypt.

I need a Stella!

Becoming bored ??????? That's something new that has not been posted before  Would you not have thought that so called intelligent people could not have laws and methods in place to make visa and other things both standard and across area procedure. I see no reason for it not to be, but then again money has to be kept rolling in, so when you hear of other areas being easier it may be these areas that are doing the job for the supply of cash to Cairo.

You know what they say. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, makes a man......oh...forget it.

The exception that proves the rule.

His circadian rhythms haven't adjusted yet. Give it a few more years.

Those tribute bands are obviously not worth a late night.

The bells on a Sunday, or in fact any other day are not allowed to ring until 8am, quite civil really.
Just reading over 500 drivers have been breathalysed over the past 2 weeks on the Christmas lead up, 16, were over the limit, suppose that's not too bad.

Just heard that for those without resident papers after BREXIT will only get 5 year resident visa's unless they own property. Those with resident papers before 2018 will not change.
