Only thing with taking large sum's out of the bank in UK I was aware of was that you need to give notice could only get so much on card and over counter in one day without notice.

Good points Bombay, you are correct to a degree regarding withdrawals of large amounts of cash, but often it depends on your bank sort code. The first two numbers refer to the banks name, each bank that operates in the U.K. has such a code. The second two numbers indicates a set land area, each having an area manager. The last two numbers indicate the actual branch, if the number is 01 on your actual account you would be able to get at least £10,000 on demand. Larger amounts can be ordered within two days, you will notice something quite unusual on receipt, though I leave that information to some one on here who evidently knows far more than I ever will.

With regards chip and pin cards the usual daily limit in the U.K. is £300, however you can easily get this increased to £500 these days. For those who use cash on a fast basis, known in the business as 'money manipulation' you can obtain a £1,000 daily limit.

Credit cards are a different game, if you have a gold card these days, as a rule it means you are not a good risk, there is however a card colour that sets you apart,..........and its certainly not the platinum one. :wi .

Usually the bank asks for 24 hour notice although I did managed to withdraw £6000.00 a couple of weeks ago without any notice. I think it depends on how much they have in the bank at any given time.

Most UK banks will give you what you ask for providing they are holding the cash funds that particular day.
