Recently, there was a post saying that you can no longer check your luggage through to and from Luxor, when travelling via Cairo. Egyptair luggage rules were not clear about it and it was suggested here that now you would only be allowed one piece of luggage on the domestic leg of an international journey.
I have just purchased a roundtrip Luxor-Cairo-Copenhagen "best offer" and I am happy to say that two pieces are allowed all the way. As I remembered it, that was how it used to be, but I was not sure and would not trust anyone until I had it black on white. Only when you have received the actual ticket will you see it.

Re: Egyptair Baggage Allowance
I think I recall the posts you were referring to and I also think that some were confused by the baggage allowances for International and Internal flights.
I booked tickets with Egyptair a few months back and the hold baggage allowance was:
London - Luxor 2 x 23K
Luxor - Cairo 1 x 23 k (I was then going off by alternative transport for a few days)
Cairo - London 2 x 23K
I had already made sure that I had two lightweight cases, one that fitted snuggly into the other, so that I could take my personal luggage in the small case and my accumulated gifts and any requested shopping in the larger one.
Alas, I've had to change my plans, but the cases are still weighed and partially packed ready for when I can make my over due visit to Egypt.

- So if it was still an option, you couldn't have checked your bags through, anyway. That was and obviously still is the difference.HEPZIBAH wrote:Luxor - Cairo 1 x 23 k (I was then going off by alternative transport for a few days)

No, it was clear when I booked and confirmed by the ticket what my luggage allowance was for each leg of the journey. I was breaking my journey in Egypt - by that I mean although flying back to the UK from Cairo it was not a 'via' Cairo flight (Luxor - Cairo - London connections).

it is what you do with what happens to you.

And had it been, you would see 2 pcs on your final ticket.HEPZIBAH wrote: it was not a 'via' Cairo flight (Luxor - Cairo - London connections).
If I spend a week in Cairo on my way from Copenhagen, I book a multi destination ticket and can only bring one bag to Luxor from Cairo.

Yes, if for example I had flown London - Luxor on the direct Monday flight I would have been allowed the normal 2x23k.BENNU wrote:And had it been, you would see 2 pcs on your final ticket.HEPZIBAH wrote: it was not a 'via' Cairo flight (Luxor - Cairo - London connections).
If I had then been returning to London any other day than Monday there isn't a direct flight so it would have been Luxor - Cairo - London and again this would qualify for the 2x23k allowance.

Re: Egyptair Baggage Allowance
As there are no direct flights for me, I am talking about the difference between going from an international to a domestic flight in Cairo before and after you had the option of checking your luggage all the way. You can still bring two bags.

Well, you can still check your luggage all the way to and from Luxor though changing flights In Cairo. Three friends have done it the last few days to and from Copenhagen, which means that there is still a shortcut between International and Domestic.BENNU wrote:Recently, there was a post saying that you can no longer check your luggage through to and from Luxor, when travelling via Cairo.
