Careful.................
You may also be asked if you have packed your own bags. You must never carry anything onto a flight on behalf of someone else. If you think an item has been placed in your baggage without your knowledge, you must tell the check-in agent immediately.

Re: A letter
I don't mind taking or bringing letters, or parcels but I always insist it is left open so I can see what's in it and so can anyone else.

Re: A letter
I would never ask anyone to bring a letter for me that they could not open, it's just a form for my private pension that I have to get signed to say I am still alive. Why the darned thing can't be faxed or the form emailed I have no idea but jobs worth says it's not possible.

Re: A letter
I guess Dusak's letters are P and M.
Seems odd they won't email for signature. Lots of places operate solely now on electronic signatures particularly if the webcams are set up so they can actually SEE you.
Any chance, since they're sending you documents, that they'd set up a secret code or something ONLY you would know so that in future you could just confirm with them that way?
I mean if they're really worried it might not be the real YOU mailing out a letter that could be signed by anybody isn't really the most secure way to do business.

Re: A letter
Don't be silly LLL this is a Local Govt. pension what on earth would they do without all their bits of paper. Think they trained the Egyptians in getting signatures on this and stamps on that.

Re: A letter
You send one of your kids your signature. They tape a copy of that signature to a sunny window. Then they place the form on top of it over the signature and sign it for you by tracing.

They then get arrested for falsifying your signature and attempted fraud.

Re: A letter
I'm sure people get others to forge their signature on bureaucratic bits & bobs all the time.
Probably not a good idea to discuss it on a public forum beforehand however

This keeps coming back to mind. I can't help but think that if anyone else had suggested such a thing you would have been warning them that it was an illegal act and questioning their integrity.

I would never ask one of my children to commit a criminal act, even if they would consider doing so which they wouldn't.

Re: A letter
Because she is cheating no one and there is no one harmed by this. From what she has said, she is legally entitled to the pension so long as she is alive. And from her posting here, we can tell she is alive. I would not suggest it if she was not entitled to it. In the end, the only difference is the hand that moves the pen, especially if it is done with her authorization.

Re: A letter
@Carrie - seriously - Would not giving one of your children legal limited Power of Attorney (POA) help for matters such as this?
A limited POA is legal permission drawn up by an attorney/signed/notarized etc etc etc that allows somebody else to act for you in certain limited situations. Just a thought that gives a trusted other an ability to act on your behalf.

Re: A letter
I agree LLL but can't do it in this case, if my kids had access to my bank account and able to sign for me then as the pension people point out who is to say if I am alive or dead, it would be in their interest to keep signing to say I am well whilst claiming my pension. Honestly I have tried all ways to make things a little easier to deal with but given up in the end, they have to do things according to "the rules".

Re: A letter
If all else fails, DHL will get it to you. My manager had to send my licence renewal for the kennels over a few years ago and it got here in about 3 days. I was lucky that I found someone flying back to make it a little less painful cost wise.

Re: A letter
No probs getting it back, the post office are very good I pay to have it registered and pensions in UK get it within 10 days. I have had it posted to me here though and never received it even though I have been to the mail sorting office many times. Still a very kind person has agreed to bring it for me.
