This is not scientific of course and not indicative of tourism levels but I was pleased in one aspect at the numbers at Karnak & Luxor temples today.
Arrived at Karnak at about 4pm and I estimate around 5 to 600 visitors.
At Luxor temple around 250-300.
Havent seen them that busy in years.
There were a number of Egyptian visitors I think, as there has been all week up and down the Niles temples but plenty of tourists as well.
My boat has had Italians, Germans, Spanish, Egyptians, Indians and of course British.
Was only pleased in one aspect as it was quite difficult to get clean pictures without somebody being in the way.
Bloody tourists!

Re: Tourism In Luxor
I tried to access the Karnak webcam at "Egypt Now" ( http://41.65.113.243/etisalat/desktop.html ) but could not connect. In fact I could not connect to any of their webcams. Is it just me? Is it a temporary glitch? Have they closed down?Zooropa wrote:This is not scientific of course and not indicative of tourism levels but I was pleased in one aspect at the numbers at Karnak & Luxor temples today.

Re: Tourism In Luxor
Years ago they placed a camera in the Kings Chamber at Giza, my mate said 'do you think it's working ?
I responded 'of course not this, is Egypt' of course it wasn't working....
Ps: And a pen twixt the blades of the noisy (extractor ?) fan soon put paid to that, peace & solitude returned...spooky...
