Aswan...

Rain, overcast, cloudy, what's that all about?

I demand to see the UK ambassador.

Outrageous!

Hey come on Zooropa, even Asswan can have its off days as far as us tourists are concerned, though I have to agree it often happens when I am there, but the horror is the natives love it when this occurs, while we go around looking glum.

Don't worry Carrie, this time of year, it's usually a one day event.

P.S. - I did say USUALLY.

It was only a few drops of rain, I have had this before in June of 2009 - that time it was torrential and the locals were dancing in the streets.

I was hopping mad.

Now hold on there Zooropa, a few drops of rain, this is nothing. During my last visit earlier this year, we had wind, rain, HALE STONES, high water, floods and everything in between over three days in Luxor early this year.l

Please do remember, that you must be careful what you write on here that could be termed as negative to present and future tourism to Egypt by the thought police.

And who is Zooropa, do you know his real name? do you know his IP, where he is? NO. :)

It would be extremely difficult for them to find out too, facebook however would be easier :)

You were here at that time then A four, started out as great fun, I sat on the roof getting soaked and watching the lightening. The next day was a bit of a different story when it continued to rain and I saw the damage it was doing to people's homes and busineses. I went over to the East and had to wade across the road the corniche was completely flooded water coming over the pavement it was so deep. My friends roof fell in, water coming through all her electrics, what started as a novelty picking up the huge hailstones and using them as ice for drinks turned into an disaster for very many. Hope this doesn't ever happen again.

Oh yes Carrie, I was there then, and I am sure you will agree our friend Zooropa would have certainly had something to moan about then, as a tourist.

That sounds truly awful what happened and im indeed sorry for those affected.

My post was tongue in cheek, inspired by the obligatory couple on the boat moaning about everything.

However......

Its their right and come to mention it, mine as well to moan if we want to, anything to stop complacency, prior to the troubles I always felt that the authorities here, at least, took tourists for granted, that they could do what they want and they still would come.

Those days are long gone, and if tourism recovers I doubt that they will be able to have the same attitude, but I fear its a lesson that still has not been learned.

We had a five minute downpour on Tuesday night. It amazes me how much staining such a short fall can do. Walls, windows and paintwork all now grimy with run off. This is not a moan, just an observation. But at least it makes the leaves on my plants greener once the dust has been washed off. :up
