No, there is a shortcut. Look for the yellow sign or ask anyone. When you go back, there will probably be a line of passengers in Cairo going the same way and staff making sure that everyone knows where they are going. If your domestic is late they will escort you, just make sure that you get a boarding card for both flights when checking in at Luxor Airport, they sometimes forget it and that will cost you an extra ten minutes in Cairo.

2 hours are plenty just remember to get your visa before going into domestic, coming back go up the stairs when you arrive at Cairo and up the escalator and go through the first entrance on your right where you will have immigration and then you are in the international departure lounge.

If you need it you can either pack it in your hold baggage or go to the Duty Free shop in Luxor within 48hrs of arrival - or both!
get it before you leave the airport as there is an expensive and poor selection in town.

Or bring in what you can, and still get the 3 litres at the DF within 48 hours. When they were selling JW RL in 2L bottles I managed to bring in 3 of them from the airport DF, and they asked if I wanted another. Even I am not that thirsty!

You really have to be thirsty to drink JW RL!

As I said go to the shop at the airport because in town there is a poor selection you can only visit the shop at the airport before leaving as you cannot go back in. They have tightened up no more over allowance limit or over time limit.

Agree, but some of my friends find it acceptable (with coke).

Is it worth us doing web check in before we fly as we normally get to the airport early because of where we live anyway? Does it have any benefit?

I check in online just so I can choose where we sit. Easy enough to print off the tickets at home and know im all done before I arrive at the airport
Stand up to be seen
Speak up to be heard
Shut up to be appreciated

We chose our seats when booking online too. Seems to be no more benefit to online check in. Will while away some time at the airport checking in anyhow ha ha. Thanks again everyone.

I flew to Luxor yesterday from Heathrow Terminal 3 (via Cairo). On arrival at the airport I found I had to check in at a machine in Zone C, not at the usual check in desks. It was simple enough, I just followed the instructions on the screen, put my passport in first, then my details came up and I was able to choose my seats for both flights and my boarding "cards" (pieces of paper) were printed out. I then had to go to the drop off point, showed my passport again and my boarding cards, gave in my bags and was given a receipt for them. And that was that - easy peasy :D

Check in desks? Haven't used them for a years at Copenhagen Airport.

Unless I fly with Egyptair, I even scan the luggage myself while dropping it at an unmanned belt.

Where do you get the luggage tags from? They are the main reason for a check-in desk, especially with an indirect flight.

The machine spits them out with the boarding passes, but not always when I fly with Egyptair. 8)

You even scan your own boarding pass before security screening at departure, whether it is on paper or mobile phone, and an e-gate opens for you. 8)
