ASWAN - CAIRO CRUISE 2014.

Post by A-Four » Sun Jan 05, 2014 4:41 pm

It seems that the independent tour companies are joining forces, they are offering what they call 'The Original Nile Cruise'. For example: Aswan to Cairo on the 20th April will cost £1,935p.p. inc flights to and from London Heathrow. It is possible to join from Luxor to Cairo on 23rd April (inc flights) will cost £1,619p.p.

The itinerary is offering very limited stay in Luxor, but then again, the same can be said for all other places on route.

I will believe it when I see the boat. The section through Sohag, Minya, Assiut and Beni Suef is still deemed unsafe by the FCO, and it is (imho) unlikely to improve significantly in the near future.

God bless you Brian, but then again, I hear that you lot from Worcester tend to be a bit tight, when it comes to handing out the lolly.

That the cheapest, I found one that quoted £3,500p.p.

The one I have stated is through Millington's of Leicester. (Kuoni.)

Apparently they are showing classic movies included in the cruise:

Mon & Wed: The Yangtse Incident
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051209/

Sun & Tue: The Sand Pebbles
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060934/

Thur for 3 days: Death On The Nile
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077413/

Popcorn 95le Cola 65le Hot Dogs 125le

It seems there is a little bitterness from the business community, but it is as I wrote some nine months ago, there is to be new ideas in tourism for Luxor. Even if popcorn cost 95LE, I assure you all tax due to the nation will be paid IN FULL, unlike most business outlet feel they should in Luxor.

:?: Its called a sense of humour, you should get one. As for businesses in Luxor that don't pay tax or come that have licenses you could at least be an expert on those as you seem to frequent them! :wi

As for these cruises I doubt they will operate as Brian said most governments advise against travel north of Luxor towards Cairo.
As for diversification I hardly class re-starting Cairo to Aswan cruises when they cannot get people on existing cruises between Luxor and Aswan as diversifying.

Caribbean Cruises do not cost that amount of hard earned cash!! So there may well be a problem. What is the meat in the Hot Dogs?? or is it Fillet Beef at that price. Its no good trying to make up the last 3 years of losses, that will soon be recognised.

It's hopeless. One of the members of "your" commite has started a slander campaign online against some Egyptian who works in the tourism industry offering up photographic "proof" (which actually proves nothing unless you read into it something that seems doubtful) of his "misdeed" while offering up links to her own business. I don't know either the committe member or the Egyptian victim, but whether the misdeed actually happened or not is doubtful because the photo actually looks like something totally different and you would only think it shows what she says it does if you were told it shows that, but the whole scandal is giving a bad image of the industry to anyone who comes across it. So if you have unprofessional people like that tasked with promoting tourism but instead discouraging it and leading a witch hunt which a lot of other stupid people who work in tourism, Egyptian and otherwise have joined in the witch hunt, what can you expect? Luxor has a lot to offer, but the industry is full of half-witted people who know nothing about what they are doing and are destroying their own businesses and those of others.

Caribbean Cruises definitely do not cost that much comparatively. I booked last year to take a 21 day cruise all about the Caribbean late this spring and while I have to get myself to Miami, FL to launch and get myself home from Boston, MA where I end up the cost per day is way less than the prices indicated here for a cruise on the Nile.

GD, I think the Committee members have changed so much that no body really knows who is on the committee, however I believe like myself people are using the committee for information to enable their lives to run more smoothly in Luxor. I for one have benefited from the information they have supplied me, even though I was sceptical at the time.

Everyone, we keep harping on about the committee, but in reality the committee has not yet been verified by the Official sources. when that time comes then people can make comments I suppose. But recently things seem to have gone quiet, so I presume some of us are benefiting.

I am not really interested in who does what, who is trying to use the committee for this that and the other, my interest is obtaining information to make my life more flowing in Luxor. If members are getting some form of self advertising then so be it, I am not in the tourist industry, never will be, and really being retired have not much interest. My interest is more for the local people who I like to mix with and enjoy their company, learning the culture and the Country as much as I can.

If any official body involved in the tourism industry that needs attacking and total reorganising it is the unscrutable and greedy Egyptian Tourist Guides Syndicate in Luxor that takes a whopping 70% commission on all that they do….

The committee has not changed its still the same members less a couple of resignations, last I heard.

Brian the 70% commission that the Dr states here is quite common knowledge. I remember it being always 50% throughout the past 20 years. We then got a situation where one or two factory owners were meeting coaches up in the King's Valley and started offering an amazing 70%, this happened some five years ago. Up until that time there was a common agreement set by ALL factory owners on the WB, that commission would be no more than 50%.
