Train to Aswan

Post by Lisak » Sat Dec 14, 2013 9:20 am

Are the trains to and from Luxor to Aswan running as normal?
I have to go to Aswan, well Philae Temple when I am over at Christmas and just wondered if the train was still a viable option, or if I need to sort out a car to take me down there?

I thought all train services in Upper Egypt were still suspended?

My friend went to Aswan on Thursday with her family for four days, all trains were running normally, [that is one hour late] but they had a relatively new train which she said was very comfortable, but they seemed to have put the toilets in them from the old trains, which was not very comfortable. Going they experienced some stone throwing by people next to the track, kids and teenagers as they traveled along, but this time no windows were broken, unlike last time when an enormous stone came through the glass and shattered in a woman's face. She took the precaution of not sitting next to the windows.

Well....you live and learn! Sounds, Lisak, that you might need to make sure you sit well away from the windows and have a pee before you board
