Well I've tried and searched but all I keep finding is news of the most recent balloon crash in Luxor early this year - so, can someone please tell me when it was that Sindbad hot air balloon company had an accident?
The balloon that crashed in February was operated by Sky Cruise.

From the description of the accident, it must have been horrible several minutes before the people's deaths.

I MAY be wrong pdmlynek, but I think that Sindbad's MAY have landed in the Nile once, or on Temple Street where Luxor temple begins..

My wife and I have been on several balloon trips ( its kind of addictive) and as a rule, we always use Hod Hod.
The only time we didn't, we ended up landing about 5 miles into the Eastern Desert..

Oh, I don't know. I was just identifying the "most recent balloon crash in Luxor early this year" that Cyprus wrote about.

Yes and the pilot found it quite funny at the traffic hold up, until he was arrested by the police....

I remember the balloon outside Luxor temple very well. Crossing the river on the ferry, the balloon was ahead of us, and by the time we had arrived on the corniche, the balloon was happily sitting on side of the road! Checked the date I took the photo - 6th Jan, 2007.

Didn't one of the balloons land on a bridge a few years back? Seem to think I've seen a photo of it, but I may well be wrong.

In December 2012 I was sitting on my balcony at the Lotus Hotel about 6.30am with a cup of coffee, enjoying the spectacle of many balloons gracefully floating over the West Bank. As I watched, one began to descend, slowly at first and then faster. It came right down to the Nile in front of the hotel, dipped it's basket into the water, and then began to ascend again! Not sure if the occupants got wet feet or not, but I guess they got a more exciting ride than they bargained for! :o

Yes, I am aware the accident in February this year was a Sky Cruise balloon.
I'm trying to find out about other balloon crashes seeing as I keep reading there is only one company with 100% safety record in Luxor.... more importantly I'm interested in the company I have travelled with twice and felt very safe with.

I searched YouTube - was much easier:

phpBB [video]

This is filmed from the actual balloon. The dip in the Nile followed by crashing into a dahabeya happens a little after 7:30 mins into the video. Some people say it's the same company and/or balloon that burned up in February this year:

phpBB [video]

However, they don't look to be the same balloons in the still images (in comparison to both videos I mean) whether they were both Sky Cruise, I've no idea. I'm not familiar with what all of their balloons all look like.

Ps: it's all academic as non are flying anyway, not until my mate 'big-nose arrives with his dad's ashes...

In the 19 years I have been coming to Luxor, I have never been up on a balloon and no plans to do it.

I can't believe I've just read that!

Of course it matters when someone makes a claim that "only one company has 100% safety record"! You can't just make statements like that and put other people's livelihoods in jeopardy unless you can back it up with facts...
