Nightlife and Pubs in Luxor...

Post by LivinginLuxor » Fri Nov 11, 2011 8:04 am

Although I'm critical of the lack of things to do at night for tourists - just eating and drinking - I was impressed to see a review of some Luxor bars, including Sindbad's as well as some I wouldn't be seen dead in!

"Sinbad – if you want to enjoy a drink outdoors underneath the trees, this is the place to visit. The owner keeps the patio atmosphere well decorated with fairy lights in the trees and the place is oftentimes frequented by friendly locals. The beer is priced affordably and though the food is only average, it is not too pricey.

I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Its down one of the side streets opposite the beer shops on the way from the railway station to Emillio hotel, could even be the top end of Cleopatra street which is one of those streets.

Sindbads fine unless you want a good shisha, then its awful, you should never mix water pipes and mapsons that have had Saloom smoked through them with ones that people smoke Tawfar through, the taste becomes vile and the apple flavout is totally lost...

I hate to say, and I am sure he will for give me for writing this but.....

A certain person who would not be seen dead in certain places, was in a such place, and discovered some interesting information about our beloved WB, from a person, one would, on appearance, least expect would have such sound knowledge.

It is my belief that we all should broaden our scope of friend in Luxor and Egypt, and you might be amazed what you learn, over an ice cold stella.

I have always enjoyed Sindbads for it's no hassle, friendly service. It is a great place for watching the world go by. I have also met some very interesting people in there and on one occasion a very talented guitarist who sang and played some lovely old favourites. Bliss in the sunshine.

I enjoy Sindbads for its up front pricing - 8LE + 10% tax + 12$ tax = 1bout 10LE for a Stella.

Given the amazing view of Luxor Temple it is excellent value.

And the food is very well priced as well.

And the bogs, while not te best, are usable.

Great during the day and cheap.. Yes..

I also used to take the opportunity to wander around the Luxor Hotel as well, back in the day when there was something to see of it. 8)

I don't know what it is about Sindbads that I like so much.
After all it looks like a bit of wasteland covered in gravel with a few chairs and tables.
But it's still my favourite place to drink in Luxor.

I love a Shisha but in Sindbads they are vile, they really need to get the Prill out and start washing, they also need to stop using the pipes that have been used for Saloom, and filling with Tafar Tobacco.

I have also had one or two incidents where I have had to challenge the bill, found that they had put too many drinks on. ie chrged me for 3 when only had 2. since that incident many people have told me the same has happened to them..

Best Shishas and coffee shops are Al filayla Wa Layla on TV Street, just past the Kerszaman Supwermarket with the Pizza place on the corner, and Layali Zaman opposite Deans Bistro, were the micro buses used to park. Niether sell alchahol but that does not bother me...

I can honestly say I have never ever had a problem with any bill in Sindbads. In fact they come to you and usually ask what have you had, if you happen to forget something though it's amazing how they can remind you what you may have forgotten. So when it's time to go it's more a case of saying 1 tea, 1 fish, 2 red wine or whatever.
