Luxor Airport

It's many years since we were able to fly directly into luxor having to go to hurghada instead so if anyone can help I have a couple of questions. Is there an extra security check at luxor like there is at hurghada and are there smoking areas, many thanks.

Not sure about extra security checks.

When we were at the airport for our return to the UK in May this year, there were no smoking signs all over the place on the upper level cafe/duty free area. Staff were taking smokers passed the toilets and to a closed window, where they supplied matches and something to put the dockers in for baksheesh. People using the offices close by didn't bat an eyelid so were used to seeing this. Some ladies at the departure gate said that they and others had been smoking along the outside of the cafe area and no-one asked them not to. There was also still a smoke room just past the departure area at the gate.
