More Repatriation flights May 2020

**Update for British visitors in Egypt

British Ambassador, Sir Geoffrey Adams:

“EgyptAir is operating flights from Cairo to London Heathrow on Sunday 10 May and Tuesday 12 May. See our Travel Advice for details of how to book: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/egypt/return-to-the-uk

Image may contain: 1 person

I'm surprised that there is still a need for such flights, but there must still be people who are demanding to return to the UK. I dare say there are some tourist/ex-pats who thought they could 'sit it out' in Egypt but are perhaps now realising that it is not necessarily as simple as that with issues around visa's, income, the increasing rate of the virus in Egypt and limited healthcare (in many places), etc.
Hope all that want to leave, for whatever reason, are able to get one of these flights.

It may not necessarily result from any residual demand by UK citizens “trapped” in Egypt.

If Egyptair are still regularly transporting Egyptian citizens from UK back to Egypt, they might as well advertise availability on the outgoing flight, rather than send an empty plane.

Im not desperate to go back to the UK but i always go back in the summer to see family and friends (and SHOP!) My flight was booked for 4 May. If Id gone on one of the earlier emergency flights and cancelled my 4 May flight I wouldnt have received any compensation. Now my flight has officially been cancelled by Egyptair I will get a refund for any future flight. Im not fussy as to what date it will be, but I would like to get away at some point. I dont think Ive missed much in the UK due to the lockdown, I was just as well off here.

My flights with Egyptair from Luxor to UK in April were cancelled. I wanted to change the tickets for flights later in the year but even though Egyptair said that there would be no charge s for changing the tickets they wanted to charge me £339 because the air fares for later in the year had increased. I then went for a refund and was told that I could only apply for a refund 35 days AFTER EGYTPAIR RESUMED SCHEDULED FLIGHTS! As I paid by Credit Card I have asked Mastercard to make the refund.

Air India is repatreating 300,000 at discounted air fares.
One does not need to ask why Egypt Air is so crap and will probably fold.... 8)

As another airline goes into bankruptcy...
Here is a promotional idea, this one from Qatar Airlines.
One wonders just how much money airlines have 'squirreled away to be able to allow for this.... 8)
I spotted this on Al Jazeera, which I find far more 'globally informative than our localised news stations.
It is afterall a Pandemic not epidemic.
Ps: They also serve alcohol unlike Egypt Air....

Far be it for me to rain on your parade Who2 but these promotions are usually no more than a waste of several hours of your valuable time.

“We are currently experiencing an overwhelming volume on the website. If you are having difficulties loading, please check back again tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.“

And that’s only the start.

I remember trying for virtually free BA offers to Australia last year....invariably the dates you posted were unavailable. I imagine these schemes are regulated so there must be some genuine tickets available and secured by the fortunate few.

But I’ve yet to meet, or hear of, one.

A nice idea if it works however Qatar are looking at shedding hundreds of jobs within the airline. Also up and to the winter timetable their route structure has been cut right back. Additionally most carriers are looking at getting rid of the Airbus380.

I doubt whether airline can afford to offer promotions of any kind during this period. Beware of scams!!
