I've used the Souq too, it only took 2 days for my mobile phone to arrive from Cairo. Aramex (Courier Services) just took it to there shop on TV street and rang me to say I could pick it up :)

I've used Souq and (I think it is slighter better for range of products http://www.e3050.com ). In both cases they use a courier service, and delivery is usually within a week. But, they will only deliver to proper addresses - which for houses in Luxor is problematic. To get over that, I've used local West Bank hotels, but your relative may know of a local shop that you can use.

Don't use Fed Ex...... :))) :))) Phones I think are cheaper here than in the UK, so like others say give him the money instead 200le will get him a good Chinese phone capable of making calls and sending txt's

Best postal service ? it's not even the worst postal service...it's no postal service, anyhow it would only be a TV licence demand...

"I don't know I don't read English"....

Ps: my address is NB: the white geezer with a black jeep lives over near the maroor, gurna way. post code to come...
"I hear they are selling off the Royal Mail, perhaps a rich egyptian could put in a bid..".I'm 'wetting myself still, 'mr postman wait and see, is there a letter a letter for me.........?

Another choice may be to order it for him using a regional online site such as http://egypt.souq.com/eg-en/mobile-phone/l/ , although they are not quite Amazon!

I agree with the above suggestions.

Or, send the money Western Union (TV Street). Phones are about the
same price here as in UK.

Personally I wouldn't take the chance of posting a new mobile to here. If it don't get nicked, the brother could face quite a surprise import duty tax. If I were you I would ask on here if anyone is coming over and wouldn't mind delivering it for you once you have had it delivered to their UK address. :up

Posting Mobile Phone from UK to Luxor Help

by Gege » Mon Sep 16, 2013 1:57 pm

Hi can anyone please offer some advice me and my husband would like to send a mobile phone to Luxor from the UK as a gift for his brother but unsure on what is the safest company to use and whether duty tax will need to be paid? Would normally bring gifts on our holidays back to Luxor but we will not travel now for quite a few months. Any helpful advice would be great.

Thanks in advance
